Recommendation clinic
Defend a decision and its safeguards.
State your recommendation, the criteria that produced it, the safeguards it depends on, and the conditions under which you would revisit it. Then defend it against someone arguing the opposite — including the case where the alternative is not different software but a redesigned process or simply a person doing the work.
Include escalation. Who notices when it goes wrong, how fast, and what they are authorised to do about it. A recommendation without an escalation route is a recommendation that assumes nothing will go wrong, which no experienced reviewer will accept.
