What over-helping costs later

A student who arrives never having written a formal email, chased a department, or made an administrative decision alone will have to learn all of it in a foreign country, in their first month, with nobody nearby. The application year is a low-stakes rehearsal for exactly those skills, which is most of its value beyond the outcome.

The harder version of the same point: a child who is admitted on the strength of an application their parent wrote does not fully believe they earned the place, and that doubt travels with them. Their version, with their flaws in it, is worth more than your better one.
