The reason most students stay in the wrong course is not academic. It is that changing feels like admitting the family's money was wasted. Say that out loud — it is the actual obstacle and it shrinks considerably once named.

Then bring evidence rather than feeling: what you tried, how long you gave it, what the switch costs, what the alternative costs. A parent who is handed a worked comparison responds very differently from one who is handed a decision.
