Four things keep their value across a whole career, and none of them is a module. Reading something long and difficult and coming away with what it actually claims. Writing so that a busy stranger understands you first time. Making an argument from evidence, including noticing when your own does not hold. And enough numeracy to tell whether a figure someone has handed you is plausible.

Employers describe these as "communication" and "critical thinking" on job ads, which makes them sound soft and unteachable. They are neither. They are trainable, and the degree is one of the few structured chances you get to train them under supervision.
