Starting in year one, not final term

The portfolio built in the last term always looks like a portfolio built in the last term. The one assembled from three years of ordinary coursework, treated seriously as it happened, looks like a person who has been doing the work for three years — because they have.

The habit is small: after each substantial assignment, spend thirty minutes writing the four lines and filing the artefact. Do that from the first term and the portfolio assembles itself.
