Reading an Offer Letter · Lesson 3 of 4

What accepting commits you to

Accepting usually triggers a deposit and a set of dates. Before you click, find three things in the letter or in the terms it links to: how much is payable and by when, how much of it returns if you withdraw or if a condition is not met, and whether accepting this offer requires you to decline the others.

Some systems allow one firm choice and one insurance choice. Some let you hold several. Some treat acceptance as final. This is a rules question with a factual answer, and it is worth ten minutes on the institution's own pages rather than an assumption. Where a deposit is non-refundable even if you miss a condition, that is a real risk to price in, not a formality.
