What is movable at entry level

Graduate schemes and structured entry programmes usually carry a fixed salary, because everyone in the cohort is on it and moving one person breaks the scheme. Outside those there is often a band, and you have been offered somewhere inside it rather than at the top of it.

But salary is frequently the least movable thing on the list. Start date, holiday above the minimum, a training budget, which team, a review at six months rather than twelve, equipment, remote days — these cost the employer less and need fewer approvals. Ask about those and you are asking something somebody is actually able to say yes to.
