Exams: The Last Two Weeks · Lesson 4 of 4

The day before, and the room itself

The day before is for consolidation, not new material: a skim of your own summaries, a light past paper, and stopping earlier than feels responsible. Learning something new the night before displaces sleep, and sleep is worth more marks than the new thing is.

In the room, spend the first few minutes reading the whole paper and deciding your order and your time per question, then hold to it. The commonest avoidable loss is a strong first answer that ate the time for an entire final question — a blank answer scores nothing, and a rushed one usually scores about half.
