Working backwards from the paper

Start from the paper, not from the syllabus. Find out how many questions there are, how they are weighted, how long you get, and what the examiner is actually asking you to do — recall, apply, or argue. Two hours spent understanding the paper reshapes the other hundred.

Then allocate revision by marks rather than by interest or by how much material happens to exist. A topic worth thirty per cent of the paper gets roughly thirty per cent of the fortnight, whether or not you enjoy it. Most people revise in the order the syllabus is written, which bears no relation to where the marks are.
