What a transcript actually has to show

A transcript is not a certificate and not a grade slip. It is the institution's own record of every course you took, when, what it was worth, and what you got — issued by them, not typed up by you. Most admissions offices want it sent directly or in a sealed envelope, because a document you could have edited is not evidence.

Two things catch people out. Your institution may charge for each copy and take weeks to produce one, so order several at the start rather than one at a time. And if your grading scale is unusual, ask for the scale key that explains it — a reader in another country cannot judge a 68 without knowing where the ceiling is.
