Laddering, and where it breaks

Many institutions advertise a pathway: finish the diploma, transfer credit into year two of the degree. When it works it saves a year and a lot of money. It works when the transfer is written into a formal articulation agreement between named institutions, with the number of credits stated.

It breaks when the pathway is described in marketing language — "graduates may be eligible to apply" — with no agreement behind it. That sentence means no. Ask for the agreement in writing before you enrol, not after.
