What Confidence Actually Is · Lesson 1 of 4
The wrong model
The common model says confidence comes first: feel it, then act. Applied honestly that means waiting for a feeling you have no reliable way to produce, which is why "be more confident" is such useless advice. Nobody has ever successfully followed it.
The better model is that confidence is retrospective. It is what accumulates once you have evidence you have done the thing before — a memory rather than a mood. Which means it cannot precede the action, and waiting for it is waiting for something that only ever arrives afterwards.
