A bad week is not a bad fit

Almost every student hits a stretch where the course feels wrong. Most of the time it is a hard module, a poor teacher, a bad term, or homesickness wearing the costume of a career doubt. Those pass, and switching in the middle of one costs a year for nothing.

The distinguishing question is not "am I enjoying this?" but "is the part I dislike the centre of the field, or the edge of it?" Disliking one statistics module inside a subject you otherwise like is the edge. Disliking the thing practitioners do every single day is the centre.
