Two separate questions

People say "is it accredited?" as though it were one question. It is two. First: is the institution legally registered to operate and to award qualifications in its country? Second: is this specific programme recognised by the body that matters for this field?

An institution can be perfectly legal and still run a programme no professional body recognises. Both answers have to be yes, and they come from two different places.
